Ludhiana, February 12
Protesting against the Karnataka incident, the Muslim community leaders and women conducted a Hijab rally in Ludhiana today.
Hundreds of Muslim women were out on the streets near Jama Masjid Ludhiana and protested against the incident in which a college-going Hijab clad woman was stopped by some men wearing saffron stoles.
Shahi Imam Punjab Maulana Muhammad Usman Ludhianvi was also present in the protest. He said that Pakistan should not interfere in this matter. “This is a matter of our home. This is a matter of India. The women living in India will sort this issue.”
Further, he said that it is up to a Muslim woman whether to wear a hijab or not. It cannot be determined by any other person or any other religion. He said that wearing a hijab is one of their religious norms.
Maulana Muhammad Usman Ludhianvi was leading the protest and he said that some political parties were trying to use the incident for their benefit. “A particular community is being targeted under a well-planned conspiracy,” he said.
