After a heated scuffle between Lok Insaf Party and Congress supporters near Janta Nagar was witnessed on Monday, the Returning Officer of Atam Nagar constituency has ordered 24×7 video surveillance to keep a check on Simarjit Singh Bains and Kamaljit Singh Karwal’s election campaigning.
On Monday evening, the supporters of the Lok Insaf Party and the Indian National Congress were involved in quarrels, verbal spat, stone-pelting and vandalization. After that, heavy police teams were deployed in the area. Also, an FIR under section 307 of IPC and several others, were filed against Simarjit Singh Bains and 32 of his accomplices.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Ludhiana police teams arrested Simarjit Singh Bains from the District Court Complex.
The Returning Officer of the Atam Nagar Assembly constituency has now ordered a 24×7 video surveillance over the election campaigning of Congress’ Kamaljit Singh Karwal and Lok Insaf Party’s Simarjit Singh Bains.
Gets released within eight hours
After his arrest on Monday, Simarjit Singh Bains gets released from jail within eight hours. After his release, he said that Lok Insaf Party supporters were not the ones who initiated the scuffle. “We won’t sit quietly if someone attacks us,” Bains said.
Bains and Karwal up against each other
Simarjit Singh Bains is the sitting MLA from the Atam Nagar constituency of Ludhiana. Once again, he is contesting the elections from the same constituency. His arch-rival is Congress’ Kamajit Singh Karwal of the Indian National Congress.
