As many as 80 per cent of the Ludhiana residents, who are eligible for the coronavirus vaccine, have received the first dose. Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Jagraon-cum-Nodal Officer vaccination Dr Nayan Jassal gave this information on Monday. Furthermore, he informed that 32 per cent of the eligible people have been fully vaccinated with both doses.
Inaugurating a Covid-19 vaccination camp at the local Market Committee, Nodal Officer vaccination said that Ludhiana has 26,32,727 eligible persons for vaccination. Till October 2, the first dose has been administered to 20,97,002 persons, while 8,44,306 persons have been fully vaccinated in district Ludhiana.
She said that the vaccine will give residents protection against the deadly virus and even if anyone contracts the infection due to their greater interaction job, it would not be life-threatening and would be mild.
She added that this life-saving jab is like a helmet that saves the biker from any head injury, a major cause behind deaths in road mishaps, similarly the vaccine will prevent severity.
Dr Nayan Jassal also solicited complete support of the people to contain the pandemic as soon as possible by receiving the vaccine in maximum numbers in the nearby government and private health institutions.
