11 coronavirus patients lose life as fire break out in hospital

As many as eleven coronavirus patients were killed as fire broke out in the ICU ward of Civil Hospital in Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar on Saturday, November 6.

Ahmednagar district collector Rajendra Bhosale reportedly informed that the fire erupted in the ICU section of the Civil Hospital. The patients suffering from coronavirus were admitted there. The incident happened around 11  am on Saturday.

According to the reports, a total of 17 coronavirus patients were being treated in the ICU of the hospital. The remaining patients were injured and they were shifted to a Covid ward in another hospital.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Udhav Thackeray has announced a compensation of Rs. 5 lakh for the families of the deceased. Also, he has ordered a probe into the matter.

The cause of the blaze is unknown. However, the fire department’s preliminary investigation suggests that all of this started because of an electric short circuit.
