As many as five elderly women were run over by a truck in Bahadurgarh near the farmers’ protest on Thursday morning. Three of the five women died on the spot while the other two’s condition was critical.
As per the reports, all of them hailed from Mansa district of Punjab. They were returning from the protest site and waiting for an auto-rickshaw to go to the railway station. All of them were sitting on a road divider when a truck coming from the other side lost control and ran over them.
The reports suggest that the truck driver fled but the vehicle has been impounded.
One of the two injured women has been referred to PGIMS Rohtak because of the severe injuries. Three women who lost their lives have been identified as Chinder Kaur (60), Amarjeet Kaur (58) and Gurmail Kaur (60).
