The Deputy Commissioner of Ludhiana has been transferred and a new DC has been appointed on Tuesday, April 12. In place of IAS Varinder Kumar Sharma, Surabhi Malik has been appointed as the new Deputy Commissioner of Ludhiana. It is to be noted that Surabhi Malik is the first Woman Deputy Commissioner of Ludhiana. No woman has ever served as Deputy Commissioner in Ludhiana.
Surabhi Malik is a 2012 batch IAS officer. She has served as Special Secretary, Local Government. In addition, she has served as Joint Managing Director-cum-Chief Executive Officer, Punjab Municipal Infrastructure Development Company. Also, she has worked as the Deputy Commissioner of Fatehgarh Sahib.
