The Sanyukta Samaj Morcha, a party of farmers who fought against the three farm laws, has not got the election symbol yet. Today on the last day of filing nominations, all the candidates of the Sanyukta Samaj Morcha will file their nominations as independent candidates.
Sanyukta Samaj Morcha President Balbir Singh Rajewal will file nomination papers today. Apart from him, more than 100 candidates have been given tickets by the party and all of them will contest the elections independently.
Won’t fight on ally’s cup-plate symbol
Earlier, Sanyukt Samaj Morcha was planning to fight the elections on the cup-plate symbol of Gurnam Chaduni’s Sanyukt Sangharsh Morcha. But they could not reach a consensus.
However, now, it has been decided that all candidates of SSM will file nomination papers as independent candidates.
As per the reports, Balbir Singh Rajewal did not want him to fight on the symbol of Sanyukt Sangharsh Morcha, the party formed by Gurnam Singh Chaduni.
Drawbacks of filing papers on the last day
February 1 is the last day to file the nomination papers. Those filing nomination papers today, won’t have a chance of rectification in case of any discrepancy. A delayed decision may cause some damage to the Sanyukt Samaj Morcha candidates. This can even lead to the rejection of nomination papers of many candidates of the Sanyukt Samaj Morcha.
Elections in Punjab
On February 20, elections will be held in Punjab. The nomination filing process will end today and the scrutiny will be done tomorrow i.e. February 2. February 4 is the date to withdraw the nominations and the polling date is February 20. The results will be announced on March 10.
