NCRB report says Punjab lockups easiest to flee from

The recent report by NCRB (National Crime Records Bureau) has revealed that Punjab Police lockups are the easiest to escape. According to the report released on Wednesday, lockups in Punjab are the most vulnerable in the country with the highest number of culprits fleeing from police stations in 2020.

It is to be noted that the National Crime Records Bureau analyses the crime records and data of all the states every year. It has also ranked Punjab number one in booking police personnel for negligence.

In the year 2020, 31 culprits flee from inside the lockups in Punjab. The state also ranked third on the list of the total number of escapes (86) (both inside and outside the lockup). Maharashtra topped the list with 103 escapes.

The data also revealed that 40 cops from Punjab died in the accidents being on duty. The state is third on the list after Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh. In ammunition seizure also, Punjab was ranked third after Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
