Shiromani Akali Dal’s candidate from Ludhiana West constituency Mahesh Inder Singh Garewal has demanded the transfer of the SHOs of all the police stations in the Ludhiana West constituency.

Mahesh Inder Singh Garewal filed a complaint with Election Commission and alleged that the SHOs posted in all the five police stations in the Ludhiana West constituency were helping Bharat Bhushan Ashu.

Mahesh Inder Singh Garewal also alleged that the SHOs were under immense influence of the Ludhiana West constituency MLA Bharat Bhushan Ashu.

In a complaint to the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab, Mahesh Inder Singh  Garewal wrote, “This constituency has mainly five Police Stations, i.e. PS-PAU, PS-Sarabha Nagar, PS-Haibowal, PS-No. 8, and PS-No. 5. Almost all the working SHOs were earlier also in the Ludhiana West constituency and shuffle has been made by changing the police stations but within the Ludhiana West constituency.”

Further, Mahesh Inder Singh Garewal wrote that the SHOs were under the influence of Bharat Bhushan Ashu and his wife Mamta Ashu, who is a councillor in Ludhiana West constituency.

“There are numerous incidents where SHOs have helped the ruling Congress Party out of the way. Free and Fair Elections are not possible if they continue on their present postings,” Mahesh Inder Singh Garewal’s complaint read.

Mahesh Inder Singh Garewal has demanded that new SHOs should be appointed in the police stations in the Ludhiana West constituency. He also said that those should be appointed who were not posted in the Ludhiana West constituency for the last three years.
