Ludhiana, January 12
As many as 801 new coronavirus cases have been reported in Ludhiana on Wednesday, January 12. Of those, 724 coronavirus infected people belong to Ludhiana and 77 belongs to other districts and states.
70 people are those who came in contact with the infected patients. Also, 45 healthcare workers have been tested positive for the virus in Ludhiana today.
Today, two people lost their lives in Ludhiana because of the virus. A 66-year-old male, a resident of the area near CMC Hospital, died of coronavirus today. He was admitted to DMC Hospital. The second person who lost life due to the virus belonged to Fatehgarh Sahib.
Testing increased
As the coronavirus cases are rapidly increasing in the district, testing for the virus has also increased as compared to the records of the last month. Today, 6496 samples were taken for coronavirus testing.
The active coronavirus cases in Ludhiana have reached 4256 in Ludhiana today. Of those, 4184 patients are home isolated. Because of the continuous vaccination drives, the severity of the cases is less. 10 coronavirus patients are kept in government facilities and 62 are admitted to private hospitals in Ludhiana.
Death toll in Ludhiana
One death of a person belonging to Ludhiana has been reported today. With this, the death toll in Ludhiana because of coronavirus in Ludhiana has reached 2126. Also, 1067 patients belonging to other districts and states have also lost their lives in Ludhiana because of the deadly virus.
Micro-containment zones increases from 7 to 15
Currently, there are 15 micro-containment zones in Ludhiana. Yesterday, the number was just 7.
