Amul has decided to increase its milk prices by Rs 2 per litre across the country. These prices will come into effect from March 1.
According to the company, after the hike, the price of Amul Gold milk will be Rs 60 per litre, Amul fresh milk Rs 48 per litre and Amul Shakti at Rs 54 per litre in Ahmedabad and Saurashtra.
The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Association has raised milk prices for the second time in less than a year. Earlier, in July 2021, milk prices were hiked. Now, after about 7 months and 27 days, inflation in milk prices has been witnessed.
The company said the increase was due to rising production costs. The increased prices will apply to all brands of Amul milk including Gold, Fresh, Shakti, T-Special. As a lot of companies follow Amul and consider their prices as the standard price, inflation may be witnessed in other companies’ prices as well.
