Amid rising coronavirus cases, schools to remain shut for students

Pathankot District Magistrate Sanyam Aggarwal has ordered to shut the private and government schools for students up to class 4. Also, Anganwadis won’t be allowed to open till January 15.

He ordered the same on Monday, January 3, saying that amid the rising coronavirus cases in the district, the decision has been taken. The orders shall come into effect from Tuesday, January 4 and the schools will be kept closed till January 15.

In the order, District Magistrate Pathankot Sanyam Aggarwal announced that the government and private schools can conduct their classes and activities through the online medium.

Rising coronavirus cases in Punjab

On Sunday, January 2, Punjab recorded 417 new coronavirus cases. Also, three people died because of coronavirus. More than 16,500 people in Punjab have lost their lives because of coronavirus. Now, the death toll in the state is 16,668.

Pathankot reported 78 new coronavirus cases on Sunday. Following this, such action has been taken by the District Magistrate Sanyam Aggarwal.

Patiala reported 133 new coronavirus cases on Sunday. 55 people from Mohali also got infected with the coronavirus. In Jalandhar and Ludhiana, 45 and 44 new coronavirus cases were reported respectively.
