- Pending water bills to be paid by Punjab Government.
- Electricity bills of the tubewells would be paid by Punjab Government.
- Water tariff would be at flat Rs. 50 only.
- Group D employees would be recruited regularly.
Congress-led Punjab government made some major announcements on Monday, October 18. They have decided to waive off the pending water bills of the rural and urban consumers.
Channi informed that the state exchequer will hold the burden of around Rs. 1,900 crore (1,200 from rural and 700 from urban).
Further, CM Channi informed that from now, there won’t be any water tariff for a plot size of 125 sq. yard. For all the other categories, the amount has been fixed to Rs. 50 per connection.
Channi government also decided that the state government would pay the electricity bills of the tubewells supplying water to several urban and rural areas.
Other than that, the Punjab government has decided to change Shiromani Akali Dal’s policy of outsourcing Group D employees. CM informed that Group D employees would be recruited on regular basis.
