The coronavirus numbers have increased exponentially in Ludhiana. Every day, an average of 700 to 800 cases are witnessed in the city. Now, Ludhiana Civil Surgeon Dr. SP Singh has also tested positive for coronavirus. As per the reports, his wife Dr. Renuka’s reports were found positive for coronavirus. After which, underwent the test. On Thursday, he was also tested positive for the virus.
49 healthcare workers test positive
As many as 49 healthcare workers were tested positive for the virus on Thursday. 43 people were those who came in contact with the infected people.
District Immunization Officer Manisha Khanna has also tested positive for coronavirus. Assistant Civil Surgeon Vivek Kataria, his wife Dr. Monika, and SMO of Anti Retroviral Treatment Center Harinder Sood were also tested positive for the virus on Wednesday.
On Thursday, as many as 755 new coronavirus cases were reported in Ludhiana. Also, two deaths were also reported from Ludhiana on Thursday. A 45-year-old woman from Shimlapuri lost her life due to coronavirus. She was admitted to GNDH Hospital. The other deceased belonged to Pathankot.
Over 98% of patients home isolated
The active coronavirus cases count is about to reach the 5000-mark. Currently, there are 4870 active coronavirus cases in Ludhiana. Of those, 4787 (98.2%) patients are home isolated. 12 patients are kept in a government facility and 71 are admitted to private hospitals.
Covid testing increased in Ludhiana
The coronavirus testing in the Ludhiana district has increased. On Thursday, 6601 samples were sent for coronavirus testing.
15 micro-containment zones
There are 15 active micro-containment zones in Ludhiana. The areas include New Prem Nagar, South City, Focal Point, Tagore Nagar, Dugri Phase-1, Udham Singh Nagar Block-C, Daulat Street Civil Lines, Surya Vihar Rishi Nagar, College Road, Sarabha Nagar (BLOCK- B, F, G, H, J, K).
