Amid the extremely cold weather conditions and rising number of coronavirus cases, former Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal was seen doing a door-to-door campaign in Lambi. The 94-year-old political stalwart has been frequently holding meetings before the Model Code of Conduct came into force.

At this age, he is the oldest active politician in Punjab. Since 1997, Prakash Singh Badal has been winning from the Lambi constituency. However, Shiromani Akali Dal has still not announced the candidate from this seat till now.

During his door-to-door campaign, he was seen sitting in a car and meeting people from a safe distance.

It is to be noted that the Election Commission of India has strictly said that only five people would be allowed to go for door-to-door campaigning.

Amid the rising number of coronavirus, the elections would be conducted in five poll-bound states. Therefore, the Election Commission of India has issued several guidelines.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, MP from Sangrur Bhagwant Mann, and MLA candidate from Kharar, Anmol Gagan Mann were also seen conducting a door-to-door campaign after the Model Code of Conduct came into force.

However, from the office of the returning officer of the Kharar constituency, Anmol Gagan Mann received a notice for violating the guidelines of the Model Code of Conduct. It was said that more than five people were seen during her door-to-door campaign.
