The world has witnessed the first death due to the Omicron variant of the coronavirus. The United Kingdom has reported the first death. Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson confirmed the news on Monday.
Johnson was quoted by BBC as saying, “Sadly, yes, Omicron is producing hospitalisations and sadly, at least one patient has been confirmed to have died with Omicron.”
The UK Prime Minister on Sunday evening declared an “Omicron Emergency” in the country. The UK government has decided to start booster doses for everyone above the age of 18 from this week.
