Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday took to Twitter and termed the English exam of the CBSE 10th standard “downright disgusting”. He said that it was a typical ploy of the RSS-BJP to crush the morale of the youth.
Rahul Gandhi also advised the students to do their best. He wrote, “Hard work pays. Bigotry doesn’t.”
Priyanka Gandhi also shared the picture of the passage that Rahul Gandhi has been referring to. She wrote, “Unbelievable! Are we really teaching children this drivel? Clearly, the BJP Government endorses these retrograde views on women, why else would they feature in the CBSE curriculum?”
In the passage, it was written, “In the twentieth century children became fewer and the feminist revolt was the result.” Further, it was written, “Father’s word had no longer the authority of holy writ…”
In one of the passages, it was written, “This depended, more than a century ago, upon the convention of the husband being master in his own house. The wife gave him formal obedience…”
The students were given four options for the title of the passage The options were- “Who is Responsible for Indiscipline Among Children?”, “Collapse of Discipline at Home”, “Place of Children and Servants at Home”, “Child Psychology”.
On the other hand, CBSE has said that the passage in the question paper was not in accordance with the guidelines of the board. Hence, they decided to drop off the passage and the questions related to it. “Full marks will be awarded for this passage to all the students concerned,” CBSE wrote.
