Ludhiana, October 5
Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu has warned the Uttar Pradesh government that the party would lead a march to Lakhimpur Kheri on October 6, if they do not arrest the culprits of the farmers’ death that happened on Sunday.
He has also demanded the release of Priyanka Gandhi who is in police custody since October 5.
He took to Twitter and wrote, “If, by tomorrow, the Union Minister’s son behind the brutal murder of Farmers is not arrested, and our leader @PriyankaGandhi being unlawfully arrested, fighting for farmers is not released, the Punjab Congress will march towards Lakhimpur Kheri !”
Though a murder case has been filed, no arrest has been made till now. Protesting farmers claim that Ajay Mishra’s son was driving the vehicle that ran over the farmers.
Congress has been questioning the UP government and the Centre government as to why no arrest has been made till now. Yesterday, Deputy CM Punjab Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa had been detained by the UP government and was not allowed to meet the family of the deceased.
