Amid the rising cases of Omicron variant of coronavirus in the country, the Centre government on Tuesday made it mandatory for international passengers to pre-book RT-PCR tests.
These orders are made for the passengers coming from ‘at risk’ countries to six metro cities of India including Mumbai and Delhi.
According to the details provided by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, this rule will come into effect from December 20. The airports where pre-booking of the RT-PCR tests have been made compulsory include Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Kolkata.
The Aviation Ministry also reportedly suggested that the mandatory pre-booking of the RT-PCR tests may be extended for all the airports. According to the earlier orders, the list of ‘at-risk’ countries includes the United Kingdom, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Botswana, Ghana, China, Mauritius, New Zealand, Brazil, Hong Kong and Israel.
