The ticket checking process has been intensified in Punjab and in a single day, over Rs. 20 lakh has been collected from the ticketless passengers.
As per the reports, the railway has earned a revenue of Rs. 20 lakh from 3,100 ticketless passengers in a single day in the Ferozepur rail division.
It is to be noted that in the month of February, the Ferozepur rail division earned Rs. 2.85 crore from as many as 44,313 passengers who were travelling without ticket.
A surprise checking campaign was conducted in three sections- Ferozepur Cantt- Jalandhar, Jalandhar-Ludhiana and Ludhiana-Ferozepur.
The checking team was headed by Commercial Inspector Malkit Singh, JP Meena DCIT and Sanjeev Kumar. Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Vimal Kalra requested the passengers to travel only with proper tickets so that none face any difficulty and inconvenience. He also requested the ticket checking staff to resolve the issues of the passengers on time.
