Congress chief Rahul Gandhi on Thursday reached Darbar Sahib Amritsar along with Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and Punjab Congress Chief Navjot Singh Sidhu. Other than that, 109 candidates announced by the Congress for the 2022 Assembly polls, are also with Rahul Gandhi.
Other than that, they will also visit Durgiana Mandir, Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal and Jallianwala Bagh along with the candidates. Rahul Gandhi will also address a virtual rally in Jalandhar- ‘Navi Soch, Nava Punjab’.
Amritsar East has also become a hot seat in Punjab Assembly elections as Shiromani Akali Dal has fielded Bikram Majithia against Congress’ Navjot Singh Sidhu.
It is to be noted that it is Rahul Gandhi’s first visit to Punjab since the Model Code of Conduct came into force and the Election Commission of India banned physical rallies and political gatherings.
On February 20, elections will be held in Punjab and the results will be announced on March 10.
