In a move to tighten the noose around the travel agents cheating people on the pretext of sending them abroad, the public can now lodge a complaint with the District Bureau of Employment and Enterprises (DBEE).
Divulging the details, Employment Generation Officer Ranjit Kaur said that DBEE has been designated as a nodal agency to deal with the complaints and ensuring speedy action against the erring travel agents.
She said that as soon as a case of cheating gets registered against any travel agent, the copy of the FIR would be uploaded on the website of Ludhiana district administration www.ludhiana.nic.in.
DBEE has been made the nodal agency by the state government through the Punjab Prevention of Human Smuggling Act 2012/Punjab Travel Professional Regulation Act 2014 to register complaints against fraud related to foreign travel, foreign studies and employment.
The victims can submit a written complaint with the DBEE Office, Partap Chowk, Ludhiana on any working day along with their identity card from 9 am to 5 pm.
Further, Ranjit Kaur said that if any travel agent working without a license or any un-registered agent comes to their notice, an FIR would be registered. Moreover, the copies of the FIR’s along with the information of travel agents would be uploaded on the website of the district administration so that others can be made aware of this.
