No interference of police in shopkeepers’ work

Addressing the media after holding a cabinet meeting in Ludhiana on Wednesday, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi said that the state government was working to end “Inspector Raj” in Punjab.
He ensured that there won’t be any unnecessary interference from the police with the shopkeepers and businessmen during the festive season.
- He informed that the Institutional Tax that was started in the year 2011, will be ended.
- Charanjit Singh Channi informed the media that a special session of the Punjab Assembly would be conducted on November 8 to discuss the BSF issue.
- He has also made a major announcement for the medium scale industries and said that their fixed charge for the power bills would be decreased to 50 percent.
- He also said that there was no need for CLU in the industrial zones. “There won’t be any harassment from the mobile wing of tax.”
- CM Channi informed that Punjab Government was releasing Rs. 147 crore for the development of the focal points.
- Channi also said that a one-time settlement scheme would be introduced for the arrears of the MSMEs with PSIDC, PSIC.
- On the increased jurisdiction of BSF in Punjab, he said that the central government should withdraw this notification. He said that if drones are coming, they can be stopped within 15 kilometres. Further, he said that they would go to the Supreme Court if the Centre do not withdraw its decision.
- CM added that an exhibition centre would be introduced in Amritsar and a film city would be introduced near Chandigarh.
