Ludhiana, November 11

The Centre government had ordered to increase the jurisdiction of the BSF in the state to 50 kilometres. On Thursday, during the second day of the Vidhan Sabha session, the Punjab assembly accepted a resolution against the aforementioned decision of the Centre government.

The assembly has called it an “insult” to the state police and demanded the withdrawal of the decision.

Last month, the Centre government had issued a notification in this regard increasing the BSF jurisdiction from earlier 15 kilometres to 50 kilometres. Since then, various political parties in Punjab have been criticising Centre’s decision. A political blame game had started since then as the parties are accusing each other for the decision.

The House unanimously passed the resolution in the absence of the only two BJP MLAs- Dinesh Singh and Arun Narang.
