On Thursday, January 27, Cabinet Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu and sitting MLA from Ludhiana Central constituency Surinder Dawar filed their nomination papers ahead of the 2022 Assembly elections.
Bharat Bhushan Ashu is the candidate for the Ludhiana West constituency and Surinder Dawar will contest the elections from the Ludhiana Central constituency. Other than these two, Captain Sandeep Sandhu has also filed nomination papers for the Dakha constituency.
According to the affidavit of Bharat Bhushan Ashu, he has movable assets of more than Rs. 2.33 crore. Other than that, his wife Mamta Ashu, councillor of ward number 67, has movable assets worth Rs. 36 lakh.
Bharat Bhushan Ashu has jewellery worth Rs. 39.9 lakh. His wife has jewellery worth Rs. 17.6 lakh.
Other than that, Bharat Bhushan Ashu has immovable assets of over Rs. 6.54 crore. Mamta Ashu has immovable assets of Rs. 15 lakh.
The affidavit reads that there is no criminal case against Bharat Bhushan Ashu and he has completed his graduation in the year 1989.
Increase in Bharat Bhushan’s wealth
In the year 2017, Bharat Bhushan Ashu’s movable assets were worth Rs. 42 lakh. The immovable assets were worth Rs. 6.89 crore. In five years, Bharat Bhushan Ashu has gained movable assets worth Rs. 1.91 crore. However, his immovable assets have decreased from Rs. 6.89 crore to Rs. 6.54 crore.
