Around 3 lakh people reached Fatehgarh Sahib today for the Antim Ardaas ceremony of famous actor turned social activist, Deep Sidhu.
The bhog and antim ardaas ceremony of Deep Sidhu was carried out on Friday, February 24.
Deep Sidhu’s supporters from different parts of Punjab visited Fatehgarh Sahib today. Not only Punjab, but Deep’s supporters from all across the country were there at his bhog ceremony.
A “Kesari March” was also conducted in Deep Sidhu’s memory. The march started from Sri Amritsar Sahib and concluded at Sri Fatehgarh Sahib, where Deep Sidhu’s Antim Ardaas was conducted.
Sidhu’s comparison with Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale
Thousands of people reached Fatehgarh Sahib a day before Deep Sidhu’s Antim Ardaas. Also, many compared Deep Sidhu with Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale.
There were continuous chants of “Deep Sidhu Amar Rahe” outside the Gurudwara Sahib premises. Sidhu’s supporters were sloganeering and several stalls with pictures of Deep Sidhu were installed near the Gurudwara.
Some of his supporters urged people, not to pay obeisance to Deep Sidhu for just two three days. “His ideology should remain immortal. Till our last breath, we have to continue what he has been doing and carry forward his thought process.”
Inside the Gurudwara premises, where antim ardaas ceremony was being conducted, thousands of people gathered to pay homage to Deep Sidhu.
Demand of an inquiry in Deep Sidhu’s death
Outside the gurudwara premises, people were trying to get inside the gurudwara parisar. They were climbing the walls, peeping through windows, to get a view of the hall, where Sidhu’s bhog ceremony was being carried out.
A lot of Deep Sidhu’s supporters demanded an inquiry into Deep Sidhu’s death. Inside the Gurudwara premises, there was a bunch of supporters carrying a huge poster that read, “India killed Deep Sidhu”.
Lakhs of people, but only a few police personnel
The crowd was so much so that some of the supporters were trying to climb up and reach the terrace of the Gurudwara parisar.
Though lakhs of people were present near in near Gurudwara Fatehgarh Sahib, only a few police personnel were present.
Deep Sidhu’s death
Actor turned social activist Deep Sidhu became famous during the farmers’ agitation against the three controversial farm laws. He was very outspoken and used to put forward his thoughts very clearly. Other than that, Deep Sidhu was one of the accused of the Red Fort violence that happened last year on Republic Day.
On February 15, Deep Sidhu was on his way back home. At Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway, his White Scorpio hit a truck and he died while he was rushed to the hospital. One of his friends Reena Rai was his co-passenger when the accident happened. His cremation ceremony was carried out at his brother’s house in Threeke.
