Ludhiana, December 11
On December 10, Aam Aadmi Party Punjab released the second list of candidates that will contest the Assembly polls in Punjab. In Ludhiana, AAP has announced candidates for five MLA constituencies. Out of the five candidates who have been given the seat by the AAP in Ludhiana, four were earlier parts of different political parties like Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal and Lok Insaaf Party.
From Ludhiana North constituency, AAP has given the ticket to Madan Lal Bagga, who was earlier a part of Shiromani Akali Dal. He was a close aide of the Badal family. However, in July 2021, after being expelled from SAD, Madan Lal Bagga joined Aam Aadmi Party.
Other than him, Kulwant Singh Sidhu has received the ticket from the Atam Nagar constituency in Ludhiana. Before joining the AAP in August this year, Kulwant Singh Sidhu was a senior Congress leader. He is also the former state secretary of Congress.
The third one receiving the ticket from AAP in Ludhiana is Daljit Singh ‘Bhola’ Garewal. He was earlier associated with the Lok Insaf Party. Ahead of the Assembly Polls in the year 2017, Garewal joined the Aam Aadmi Party. After losing the elections from Ludhiana East, Garewal joined the Indian National Congress. Once again, he has joined the AAP and he has received the ticket from Ludhiana East once again.
Manwinder Singh Giaspura has also received AAP’s ticket from the Payal constituency in Ludhiana. In March this year, Giaspura left Bains’ Lok Insaf Party and joined AAP.
Till now, AAP has released two lists of their candidates for the 2022 Assembly Polls. From Ludhiana, they have announced five candidates.
