The Ludhiana Health administration has become alert once again amid people getting affected by the new variant of coronavirus- Omnicron.
Ludhiana Civil Surgeon Dr. SP Singh has given instructions to the SMOs, all the private and government labs responsible for testing coronavirus.
Now, the samples found positive for coronavirus would be sent to Civil Hospital for Genome Sequencing to check the variant of the virus. The private labs have also been directed to send the information of the positive samples immediately to the Health Department.
Those returning from foreign countries would be classified into two categories
Category A
Those returning from countries hit by the Omicron variant would be considered in category A. Seven days of quarantine is compulsory for them and on the eighth day, they will have to undergo a coronavirus test. If tested positive, the sample would be sent for genome sequencing. Even if they test negative for the virus, they would have to undergo isolation for 14 days.
Category B
In this category, there would be people who are returning from the countries which are currently unaffected by the Omicron variant of the virus. After seven days of quarantine, they would be tested for coronavirus. If tested positive, the samples would be sent for genome sequencing.
