Amid the scare of the new variant of the coronavirus (Omicron), the Health Minister of Punjab Om Prakash Soni has ordered 40,000 daily testings.
Heading a high-level meeting with the senior health officials, Om Prakash Soni directed the health department to start preparations to tackle any emergency.
OP Soni said that the WHO suggests that the RT-PCR tests are able of identifying the new viruses. Therefore, maximum tests should be conducted.
He also directed that separate wards should be for admitting suspected patients of the new variant. As of now, there are 325 active cases in the state. Till now, Punjab has witnessed over 16,600 deaths.
