Ludhiana, April 9
New Commissioner of Police Ludhiana, Dr Kaustubh Sharma today assumed the office and held a press conference. Addressing the media, Dr. Sharma said that strenuous efforts would be made for the detection and prevention of the crime in Ludhiana.
Commissioner of Police said that major focus would be given to the categorization of criminals and their surveillance in an effective manner.
Further, he said that tirade against drugs would be intensified. Thrust would be laid to completely wipe out this curse from the Commissionerate.
Kaustubh Sharma said that to curb the menace of traffic in the city, the whole traffic management plan would be reviewed. He added that senior officials of the traffic wing would be deployed in the field to ensure traffic snarls do not create problems for the commuters.
He also assured that the PCR would be made more responsive to deal with any sort of exigency. Public dealing at the police stations would be further strengthened for which police officers would be made accountable.
It is to be noted that Commissioner of Police Ludhiana, Kaustubh Sharma has been a gold-medallist MBBS and MD (Medicine). He is a 2001-batch IPS officer.
“Transparent policing is our aim”
Addressing the media, the Commissioner of Police said that adequate focus would be laid on good, responsive and transparent policing. Proper feedback would be taken from the general public and the press for this purpose, he said.
The Commissioner of Police also announced that new initiatives would be taken to ensure the well-being of the Police force and their family members. He also said that thrust would also be laid on ensuring the security of senior citizens in the city.
