Indian National Congress is often criticized for dynastic politics and nepotism. This time in Punjab Assembly elections as well, there are thirteen such seats where Congress has trusted the sons, daughters, sons-in-law, of the former or existing party leaders.
Every time, during the selection of candidates for the elections, Congress faces the same criticism. Of the 117 total assembly seats, candidates for 109 seats have been announced.
Seats have been given to the relatives of senior Congress leaders including Navjot Singh Sidhu and former Chief Minister of Punjab Rajinder Kaur Bhattal.
Not only these two, but veteran Congress leader Sandeep Jakhar is also on the list. His nephew Sandeep Jakhar has got the seat. Other than that, Ludhiana Member of Parliament of Ravneet Singh Bittu’s brother-in-law has also got the Congress ticket.
Brahm Mohindra’s son Mohit Mohindra is also contesting the elections this time.

- Harcharan Singh Brar’s daughter-in-law Karan Kaur Barar has got the ticket from Muktsar seat.
- Navjot Singh Sidhu’s nephew Samit Singh, will contest the elections from the Amargarh seat.
- Sunil Jakhar’s nephew Sandeep Jakhar will fight the elections from Abohar seat.
- Brahm Mohinidra’s son Mohit Mohindra has got the MLA ticket for Patiala Rural seat.
- From Raikot, Amar Singh’s son, Kamil Amar Singh is contesting the elections.
- Ravneet Singh Bittu’s brother-in-law, Bikram Mofar is fighting the elections from the Sardulgarh seat.
- Karam Singh Gill’s son Raja Gill has also got the Congress ticket from the Samrala seat.
- Vikram Chaudhary, son of Chaudhary Santokh Singh, is fighting elections from Phillaur.
- From Lambi, Congress has given the ticket to Gurnam Singh’s son Jagpal Singh.
- Surjit Singh’s son Jaswinder Singh has got the ticket from Sunam seat.
