In a shocking incident, three robbers on Saturday tried to loot Muthoot Fincorp office in the Sundar Nagar area of Ludhiana. Four robbers had barged into the office out of which one was killed by the security guard Surjeet Kumar.
The Punjab Police has said that they would soon award Surjeet Kumar for his bravery and valour.
The Commissioner of Police Ludhiana, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar reported that four robbers barged into the Muthoot Fincorp office around 10 am.
They tried to engage the manager Sunny Sharma in a conversation regarding a loan. All of them forcibly tried to make him enter a room but when he resisted, one of the robbers opened fire and left him injured.
The security guard in the office Surjeet Kumar pulled the shutter down after hearing the gunshot and positioned himself outside the office with his weapon. When the robbers tried to escape, Kumar fired one of them and killed one of the robbers on the spot. The remaining three assailants managed to escape.
The Commissioner of Police said, “We have taken cognizance of negligence on the part of Muthoot company including its alarm system was found non-functional and other issues.” He said that suitable action would also be taken in this regard.
A case under sections 393, 394, 307 of IPC and 25 section of Arms Act has been registered. The dead robber has been identified as Amar Partap Singh of Rasalpur village, Nalanda, Bihar.
The police team took injured Sunny to the hospital where his condition is stable and out of danger.
Commissioner of Police said that the cops have recovered one pistol from the dead robber beside one other pistol, mobiles and bikes from a nearby street thrown by them during a chase by cops. He said that three special teams have been formed to nab absconding assailants.
He told that images of the accused have also been shared with the police of adjoining districts and GRP.
