Ludhiana, February 10
The Muslim Community leaders in Ludhiana today conducted a meeting in the presence of Shahi Imam Punjab Maulana Mohammad Usman Ludhianavi. Condemning the Karnataka incident where a Hijab-clad girl was heckled by some people wearing saffron stoles, the Muslim community today decided to hold a Hijab March on February 12. This march would be conducted on Civil Hospital Road, Brown Road, Jama Masjid and Jail Road.
The leaders praised the girl who “confidently” faced all those trying to stop her way to college.
Shahi Imam Maulana Mohammad Usman Ludhianavi said, “We salute Muskan, the brave daughter of Karnataka who gave a befitting reply to dozens of sectarians with the voice of Allah-hu-Akbar.” He said that Muskan has clearly made a point that Muslim daughters can not be scared like this.
Further, he said, “These politicians who came to power have nothing left but the politics of hatred and religion. On one side, the government says “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao”. On the other hand, daughters are being stopped from studying just because of Hijab.”
