Ludhiana, December 31
After a long period of 15 months (449 days), toll collection resumed at the Ladowal Toll Plaza on GT Road from Thursday, December 30. It started around 1.30 pm onwards on Thursday at Ladowal Toll Plaza.
Rs. 135 for one side and Rs. 200 for up-down are being charged from the car owners.
The manager at Ladowal Toll Plaza gave the information that the proper functioning of the Toll Plaza started on Thursday afternoon.
The toll plaza closed on October 7, 2020, because of the farmers’ protest against the three farm laws. Since then, the farmers had blocked the toll plazas across the state.
However, after the repeal of the farm laws in the parliament, the farmers came back from the protest sites at Delhi borders. Also, at some toll plazas, the protest was discontinued. But at Ladowal Toll Plaza in Ludhiana, Kirti Kisan Union was continuously protesting.
On Wednesday night, the farmers agreed to end their protest at Ladowal Toll Plaza after several talks with NHAI. The union’s district head Santokh Singh Sandhu said that the toll management has made a written agreement according to the demands of the farmers.
