Ludhiana, February 16
Famous Punjabi actor Deep Sidhu died in a road accident on Tuesday night when he was on his way back home from Delhi. The road accident took place at the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal Expressway.
One of his female friends was with him when the road accident took place. Some media reports suggest that she was Reena Rai. Deep Sidhu’s white Scorpio car reportedly rammed into a truck on the highway. Immediately, both the victims were rushed to a nearby hospital.
Superintendent of Police Sonipat, Rahul Sharma said that the identity of the woman sitting with Deep Sidhu can not be shared because of security reasons.
Rahul Sharma also said that police teams are trying to take the truck driver into custody. Further, he said, “Right now, it would be difficult for me to tell that the truck was moving or was stationary. However, the accident took place in the middle of the road.”
The reports also suggest that post-mortem of Deep Sidhu’s body would be conducted today.
Deep Sidhu was very active during the farmers’ protest against the three farm laws. He was also one of the accused of the Republic Day violence that happened in Delhi last year.
Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi condoles Sidhu’s death
Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi took to Twitter and condoled Deep Sidhu’s death. He wrote, “Deeply saddened to learn about the unfortunate demise of renowned actor and social activist, Deep Sidhu. My thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved family and fans.”
