Ludhiana, April 7
A 15-year-old girl from Ludhiana, who was studying in class 8, immolated herself and committed suicide. The deceased has been identified as Anamika, a resident of the New Shivpuri area in Ludhiana.
The incident came to light when the family members saw fumes coming out of her room. The girl was burning when the family opened the room. Somehow, they controlled the fire and then the girl was rushed to a private hospital where she was declared dead. She used kerosene to burn herself.
After the required investigation and post-mortem, the police team handed over the body to the family.
Investigating officer SHO Daresi Jagjeet Singh said that the girl was going through depression and she was on medication. She was very weak in her studies and her final board exams had started on April 7. She was also upset with her performance in the exam, the investigating officer said.
Anamika’s father worked as a labourer. She and her family basically belonged to the Kushinagar district of Uttar Pradesh. It is to be noted that a few days ago, a class X girl studying in BCM school had also committed suicide as she scored low marks in her school test.
