The swearing-in ceremony of the Bhagwant Mann lead cabinet took place on Saturday, March 19. Out of the total 10 MLAs who took oath as Cabinet Ministers, 8 are first-timers.
Also, all of them belong to different regions of Punjab. Out of the total 10, five belong to the Malwa region, four are from Majha and one is from Doaba region.
Other than that, all of them belong to different professions. Two are agriculturists, three advocates, two doctors, a social worker, an engineer and a businessman.
This cabinet is very different from that of Charanjit Singh Channi’s cabinet. Bhagwant Mann’s cabinet is full of young people. The average age of the cabinet members including Bhagwant Mann, is 46. However, the average age of people in Charanjit Singh Channi’s cabinet was 59.
The youngest minister is Harjot Singh Bains, who is just 31 years old. Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer is 32-years-old. The oldest cabinet member is Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, who is 60-year-old.
In Channi’s cabinet, Amarinder Singh Raja Warring (44) was the youngest.
If we talk about the income of the new cabinet ministers, that is also quite low as compared to that of Channi’s cabinet.
Rana Gurjit Singh was the richest minister in Charanjit Singh Channi’s government. He had a property worth Rs. 170 crore. However, the combined property of the new cabinet ministers is worth Rs. 70 crore, which is less than half of Rana Gurjit Singh’s property. As mentioned earlier, all of them belong to different professions.
Dr. Baljeet Kaur is an eye-specialist and Dr. Vijay Singla is a dentist. Harpal Cheema and Harjot Bains hold an LLB degree. Harbhajan Singh is a retired ETO and Meet Hayer is B.Tech. degree holder.
