CM Channi’s brother may contest elections against Congress

Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s younger brother Dr Manohar Singh was in the race to get the MLA ticket from Bassi Pathana constituency. However, in the first list of the 86 candidates released by Punjab Congress on Saturday, there was no mane of Dr Manohar Singh.

According to the reports, Dr. Manohar Singh may contest elections against Congress independently. From Bassi Pathana, Congress has given MLA ticket to Gurpreet Singh. Bassi Pathana seat is reserved for the SC community.

As per the reports, Dr. Manohar Singh even resigned from his post of SMO to contest the elections from the Bassi Pathana seat. However, Congress did not give any seat to him.

Dr. Manohar Singh was working as Senior Medical Officer in Civil Hospital Kharar. He resigned from his post in December 2021. Also, he had started working for the Congress party. However, no ticket has been given to him.

During the pandemic in 2020, he was posted in Nandpur Kalaour and had reportedly started political activities. The sarpanch of Nandpur Kalaour Manjeet Singh had reportedly said that Dr. Manohar Singh was transferred because MLA Gurpreet was fearing his popularity in the area.

Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi will contest elections from Chamkaur Sahib. PPCC Cheif Navjot Sidhu will fight the elections from Amritsar East. Sukhjinder Randhawa has been given Dera Baba Nanak seat. Manpreet Badal will fight the elections from Bathinda. Other than him, OP Soni will contest elections from Amritsar Central.
