Ludhiana, September 20
Charanjit Singh Channi on Monday, September 20, took oath as Punjab’s chief minister at Raj Bhawan Chandigarh, in the presence of Governor Banwarilal Purohit. He became Punjab’s 16th Chief Minister and the first from Dalit community.
Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, who was also in the race to become CM, became the deputy CM. Other than him, OP Soni also took oath as the deputy CM.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was also present at the oath-taking ceremony. Navjot Singh Sidhu, Sunil Jakhar, and other senior party members were also there.
However, the outgoing Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh did not attend the oath-taking ceremony.
