Bains, Ashu, Pandey, Dawar are up for a winning hat-trick | Will they make it to the top?

Ludhiana has been a bastion of Congress. In the 2022 Assembly elections, there are several candidates from Congress, who are contesting the polls for their winning hat-trick.

Not only Congress, but for the last 10 years, Bains brothers are having a great influence in Ludhiana. Both Simarjit Singh Bains and Balwinder Singh Bains have won their elections from their Assembly seats in the year 2012 and 2017.

Simarjit Singh Bains has won twice from the hot seat Atam Nagar and Balwinder Bains is the sitting MLA from Ludhiana South since 2012.

From Congress, there are four candidates in Ludhiana who are contesting the elections for their winning hat-trick.

From Ludhiana West constituency, cabinet minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu is representing Congress. He won the 2012 Assembly elections and then repeated the same in the year 2017. Fo the last five years, he has been looking after the Food and Civil Supplies department.

This time, there is a multi-cornered battle in the Ludhiana West constituency. AAP’s Gurpreet Gogi, BJP’s Bikram Sidhu, SAD’s Mahesh Inder Singh Garewal and Sanyukt Samaj Morcha’s Tarun Jain Bawa will give a tough fight to the sitting MLA from West, Bharat Bhushan Ashu.

Another Congress candidate fighting for a hat-trick in Ludhiana is Surinder Kumar Dawar. From Ludhiana Central constituency, Dawar has been the sitting MLA for the last 10 years.

Shiromani Akali Dal has fielded Pritpal Singh Pali, AAP has given the ticket to Ashok Prashar and Gurdev Sharma Debi is representing Bhartiya Janta Party in Ludhiana Central constituency.

From the Khanna constituency also, Congress has been winning the last two assembly elections. Gurkirat Singh Kotli, who has been Industries Minister in Charanjit Singh Channi’s tenure as CM, will also fight for a hat-trick this time. Tarunpreet Singh Sond from AAP and Jasdeep Kaur from Shiromani Akali Dal are up against Gurkirat Singh Kotli. BJP has given the Khanna MLA ticket to Gurpreet Singh Bhatti.

Rakesh Pandey has been the MLA from Ludhiana North constituency six times. If Rakesh Pandey is voted to power again, he will hit a second winning hat-trick. Rakesh Pandey has won the Assembly elections from Ludhiana North in the year 1992, 1997, 2002, 2012 and 2017.

This time, in Ludhiana North also, there are several candidates who will give a tough fight to the sitting MLA Rakesh Pandey. Madan Lal Bagga from Aam Aadmi Party, Praveen Bansal from Bhartiya Janta Party and Shiromani Akali Dal’s RD Sharma are contesting the elections against Rakesh Pandey.

In this list of Ludhiana candidates fighting for their hat-trick, Sharanjit Singh Dhillon is the only one from Shiromani Akali Dal. He has won the Assembly elections from Sahnewal twice- in 2012 and then in 2017. Other than that, Sharanjit Singh Dhillon has also been the Member of Parliament from Ludhiana from 2004 to 2009.

Congress has given the ticket to Vikram Bajwa and from Aam Aadmi Party, Hardeep Singh Mundian is contesting the elections from Sahnewal.
