Once again, 150 international passengers coming from Italy have been tested positive for coronavirus at Amritsar International Airport on January 7.
According to the reports, the passengers were coming from Rome in an aircraft with 219 people on board.
Yesterday also, 125 international passengers travelling from Italy were tested positive for coronavirus at Amritsar Airport.
As per the protocol, all the international travellers who have been tested positive for coronavirus will be shifted to isolation wards at different hospitals across Amritsar.
The Union Health Ministry has declared Italy as “at-risk” country. All the passengers coming from Italy will be tested for covid-19 upon arrival.
It is to be noted that 8 passengers who were tested positive for coronavirus yesterday, fled from the airport. The relatives of the passengers were also alleging that the airport authorities were showing false reports.
Amritsar Deputy Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Khaira had given them the time to appear before the health department till the morning. However, all the 8 passengers did not turn up, the reports suggest.
ADC Ruhi Dug reportedly said that the families of those who fled from the airport were contacted. They were demanding home quarantine. But ADC made it clear that the patients would have to come up to the Guru Nanak Dev Hospital, Amritsar. Also, a case will also be registered against all the patients who fled, the ADC informed.
