Ludhiana, April 15
The former MLA and Punjab Pradesh Congress Chief Navjot Singh Sidhu has demanded a compensation of Rs. 400 per quintal on wheat for the farmers of Punjab.
He took to Twitter and wrote, “I urge GOI and PB Govt to declare minimum compensation of Rs. 400/Qtl on Wheat.”
Further, Navjot Singh Sidhu wrote, “As this yr production is 30-50% less due heat wave and global wheat prices are > Rs3500 (1500 more than previous yr). Why should middlemen and Govt enjoy all the profits at expense of poor farmers..”
Other than that, Navjot Singh Sidhu said that if the ruling government does not want to do this, then cross-border trading should be allowed. The wheat, paddy, vegetable, and dairy farmers will be benefitted, he said.
