Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Majithia, who has been lodged in Patiala Jail in the drug case, was produced in a Mohali court on Tuesday, March 8.

The court here has sent Bikram Majithia to judicial custody till March 22. He will remain in judicial custody in Patiala Jail till March 22.

Bikram Majithia reportedly said that he has full faith in the law. An FIR under several sections of the NDPS Act has been registered against Bikram Majithia.

There are certain allegations against Bikram Majithia of connection with international drug smugglers. The Supreme Court had put a stay on Bikram Majithia’s arrest as he had to contest elections.

On February 24, Bikram Majithia surrendered in the Mohali court and then he was sent to the Central Jail in Patiala. Condemning the case against Bikram Majithia, Shiromani Akali Dal has been saying that it is a political conspiracy.

In the 2022 Assembly elections, Shiromani Akali Dal’s Bikram Majithia is up against Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Navjot Singh Sidhu. Both of them are fighting from the Amritsar East constituency. The election result will be announced on March 10.
