Prime Minister Narendra Modi had visited Punjab on January 5. He had to address a rally in Ferozepur. However, because of an alleged security lapse, he had to return to Delhi.
The Supreme Court on January 7 directed the Registrar General of Punjab and Haryana High Court to preserve all the documents and records related to Prime Minister’s visit to the state on January 5.
The Supreme Court bench was headed by Chief Justice of India NV Ramana. The bench had directed the Punjab government, police authorities, SPG, other state and central agencies to cooperate with the Registrar General.
The bench also reportedly said that the NIA officials and Director General of Chandigarh will also help the Registrar General. Also, strict directions have been given to the Registrar General to keep the records safe.
