The Centre government has decided to reopen the Kartarpur corridor

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on November 16 announced the reopening of the Kartarpur Sahib corridor. This has been seen as a gift for the Sikh community before the Prakash 552nd Prakash Purab of the first Sikh Guru Nanak Dev. Sikhs believe that Sri Kartarpur Sahib was the place where Guru Nanak Dev Ji spent the last 18 years of his life.

Now that the corridor is open, the devotees will have questions in their minds as to what process they will have to go through to get to Sri Kartarpur Sahib. Here you will get information on how you can register yourself for the Sikh pilgrimage and go to Sri Kartarpur Sahib.

After the registration, the pilgrims will get will be sent an Electronic Travel Authorization through the e-mail address. Also, there won’t be any need for a visa to visit Sri Kartarpur Sahib through the corridor.

Through the website, you can select your desired day of visit and check if slots are available. You just need to provide their passport details and Aadhar Card details.

Also, the pilgrims will be allowed to go in the morning and return in the evening. Other than that, the visitors won’t be allowed to go anywhere else except Sri Kartarpur Sahib.

The fees

As per the reports, earlier, the Pakistan government used to charge US $20 from the Indian pilgrims to visit the holy shrine. This may continue the same way. If you have US $20, then you can pay. But if you have Indian currency, you will have to pay Indian currency equal to the value of US $20.

Required documents for Kartarpur registration

  • A coronavirus negative report not older than 24 hours and vaccination certificate.
  • Passport and scanned copy (of the last page of passport as well).
  • Aadhar Card.
  • It is to be noted that the passport will not be stamped or signed by any official.

Things you cannot carry during your journey

On the aforementioned website, there is a list of things you are not allowed to carry to Sri Kartarpur Sahib.

It includes Firearms and ammunition, explosive material, drugs and psychotropic substances, blades and knives (except all types of Kirpans), counterfeit currency notes, stamps and coins, any material challenging the territorial integrity of India and Pakistan or potentially damaging to communal harmony in India and Pakistan (both in physical as well as digital form), any goods for commercial purpose for profit gain or commercial usage, as per applicable laws, Radio transmitters, satellite phones, Other than ornaments for personal use or for religious purpose, objects made of gold and silver, pornographic material, goods infringing the enforceable intellectual property rights, Wi-fi and broadband devices, and liquor.
