The security at the Integrated Check Post at Attari Border is increased and a full-body truck scanner has been made operational.
It is also called RDE (Radiation Detection Equipment), an X-Ray device that can detect radioactive material, arms, ammunition, explosives etc. The reports suggest that it can detect fake currency and narcotics as well.
The trade barriers between India and Pakistan have been increased after the Pulwama incident, It is reported that trucks from Afghanistan enter India via Pakistan.
An official from the Land Port Authority of India reportedly said that dedicated staff was deputed to operate the full-body truck scanner. He also said that trucks are also checked manually to leave no space for error.
The reports also suggest that the device cost around Rs. 23 crore. It was first announced to be installed in the year 2017. However, several deadlines were missed over the years.
