UP Police detains Punjab Deputy CM in Saharanpur

Uttar Pradesh Police detained Punjab Deputy CM Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, MLA Kuljit Nagra and other party members in Saharanpur on October 4. All of them were on their way to Lakhimpur Kheri to meet the families of the deceased farmers.

On Monday morning, the flights of Deputy CM Sukhjinder Randhawa and Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Bhagel were denied to land on Lucknow airport. Earlier, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was also stopped to visit Lakhimpur Kheri.

Sukhjinder Randhawa had also tweeted about his visit on Sunday and appealed to maintain peace.

Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi also took to Twitter and condemned the UP Government for not allowing Congress leaders meet families of the deceased.

As many as four farmers died in Lakhimpur Kheri on Sunday, October 3. The Samyukta Kisan Morcha had alleged that Union Minister of State Ajay Mishra’s son Ashish Mishra drove an SUV over four protesting farmers.
