Government employee demanding Rs. 4.8 lakh arrested after complaint filed on anti-corruption helpline number

As the newly-elected AAP government has issued an anti-corruption helpline number in Punjab, strict action has been taken against a woman clerk in the Jalandhar district.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today took to Twitter and wrote, “I received a complaint on our anti-corruption action helpline. Directed the authorities for immediate investigation, those caught asking for bribes will face severe consequences. Corruption won’t be tolerated in Punjab now.”

According to the sources, the complaint was received from the Jalandhar district and a woman clerk in the Jalandhar tehsildar office was asking for a bribe of Rs. 4,80,000 in lieu of a job.

The FIR has been filed against the clerk after the complaint was filed on the “Anti-corruption action helpline” issued by the Punjab government.

On March 23, the martyrdom of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev Thapar, the Punjab government had issued the anti-corruption action helpline. A WhatsApp number 9501-200-200.

Bhagwant Mann said that this was his personal WhatsApp number and people can send their grievances through audio and video messages.
