Retired Allahabad High Court Judge to probe Lakhimpur Kheri incident

A single-member commission of retired High Court Judge Pradeep Kumar Srivastava is appointed by the Uttar Pradesh government to probe the Lakhimpur Kheri incident that happened last Sunday on October 3.

As per the reports, the committee has been asked to submit the report within two months. A notification for the constitution of the committee was issued. It reportedly read, “In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 3 of the Commissions of Enquiry Act, 1952 (Act no. 60 of 1952), the Governor is pleased to appoint Justice High Court, Allahabad Pradeep Kumar Srivastava (retd) as a single-member Commission of enquiry with Headquarters at Lakhimpur Kheri.”

Four farmers, two BJP workers, a driver of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Mishra, and a journalist died in the violence.
