Correction: Former Councillor Indu Thapar has not been named in the FIR. The FIR was registered for allegedly abusing the complainant, not for hiring minors.

An FIR has been registered against Ludhiana Congress leader Raju Thapar as he allegedly abused one of his neighbours while he was recording his video. The complainant Yogesh Saini alleged that Raju Thapar had hired minors as waiters at his restaurant Grand Silver Spoon.

Raju Thapar is said to be a close aide of former CM Captain Amarinder Singh and his wife Preneet Kaur. Raju Thapar’s neighbour Yogesh Saini has filed a complaint against him in the Division No. 8 Police Station.

He alleged that Raju Thapar had hired minor boys in his hotel. For the last few days, the minor boys were working as waiters as there was a function going on at his restaurant and banquet hall. On Wednesday, some ceremony was going on in the restaurant when the complainant Yogesh Saini saw the minor boys working. That is when he filed the complaint with the Child Helpline.

When the police team reached the spot, the minor boys were shooed away. Yogesh Saini reached the spot and recorded the whole incident. When Yogesh Saini reached Raju Thapar and recorded his video, he started abusing him. Raju Thapar also allegedly threatened him. After that, a police complaint was filed. SHO Division No. 8 Police Station Jagdeep Singh said that the accused will be arrested soon as raids have been conducted to catch him.
